Sexual Abuse Education

The best prevention for sexual abuse is education. As parents, this education can begin with children as small as two or three years old. Teach your children about their private areas and the importance of not allowing anyone to see them or touch them. As important as this lesson is, it should never be limited to only children of a young age. No matter how old your children gets, or how many times they have heard this lesson and speech, they can always benefit from hearing it again.

Talking to your children about sex can be a very uncomfortable subject for both parties involved in the conversation, so talking to them about sexual abuse and dangers is not going to be any easier. However, it is a crucial part of helping to keep your children safe and alert, as well as preventing them from falling for any sexual predator tricks and lies. Parents can try as much as they want to monitor and observe our children. However, the fact remains that children are going to have moments in their young lives when they may not have a parent or guardian around, and they will need to make a choice on what to do and who to trust.

Another scary fact that your children should be made aware of is that sexual abuse can also happen in the safety of their own home. Sexual predators are using the internet to find victims, as well as to lure them into a false sense of trust and friendship. The sexual predator will use this trust later to lure the child out into the open. Don't let your child become another victim or missing person, and arm them with the knowledge they need to prevent sexual abuse.
